Sécher am Internet

The ABBL Foundation for Financial Education is committed to promoting financial literacy and digital security. In collaboration with the Luxembourg Tech School (LTS), we proudly support “Sécher am Internet” – an initiative designed to help individuals navigate the digital banking landscape securely and confidently.

Our Goal

With digital banking services becoming an integral part of financial management, understanding how to use them safely is crucial. “Sécher am Internet” aims to empower users with the knowledge and skills necessary to interact securely with online banking platforms, protecting their personal and financial information from cyber threats.

Through a structured learning experience, the initiative provides clear explanations, practical exercises, and interactive tools to enhance cybersecurity awareness and improve digital banking proficiency.

Learning Modules

The platform offers educational resources covering essential topics related to online banking security. Each module includes explanatory texts, infographics, and interactive exercises to reinforce learning. Key topics include:

  • Phishing awareness: Recognising and avoiding fraudulent attempts to steal your personal data.
  • Password security: Best practices for creating and managing secure passwords.
  • Digital identity protection: Safeguarding your online identity and credentials.
  • Two-factor authentication: Understanding its importance and how to implement it.
  • Online banking basics: A step-by-step guide to navigating e-banking platforms.
  • Online transactions: Securely executing transfers and payments.
  • Mobile payments: Exploring the advantages and security measures for mobile transactions.

Each module is designed to ensure users gain practical insights into maintaining their financial security in an increasingly digital world.

E-banking Learning Tool

To complement the theoretical knowledge, “Sécher am Internet” provides an e-banking learning tool – a practical simulation environment that allows users to familiarise themselves with online banking functionalities in a risk-free setting.

This tool guides users through key e-banking processes, including:

  • Logging in securely using LuxTrust authentication methods.
  • Viewing account balances and transaction history.
  • Conducting online transfers and setting up standing orders.
  • Downloading banking statements and other important documents.
  • Managing beneficiaries and payment instructions.

Users can explore these functions at their own pace while ensuring they understand the necessary security precautions to take when engaging in digital financial transactions.

About the Initiative

“Sécher am Internet” was developed by a group of students from the Luxembourg Tech School (LTS), under the guidance of their mentors. The project emerged from the LTS FinTech Hackathon in July 2021, where young innovators were challenged to create digital solutions that enhance financial inclusion for older generations.

Following its selection as the winning concept, the project evolved into a full-fledged educational platform as part of the national training programme “Ech kann dat och”, dedicated to online banking literacy. The ABBL Foundation for Financial Education, in collaboration with the LTS, has supported the initiative’s development and deployment.
