Retail Banking Cluster
The Retail Banking Cluster brings together banks that serve individual consumers, households and SMEs, playing a key role in the daily financial lives of Luxembourg’s residents and in the local economy.
Its priorities include:
- Housing finance:Â supporting accessible and responsible home ownership through tailored mortgage products and cooperation with public housing initiatives. The cluster explores solutions to improve affordability and financial inclusion in the real estate market.
- Support for the local economy and SMEs:Â collaborating with public authorities and business organisations to improve access to financing for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), support entrepreneurship, and contribute to sustainable economic growth.
- Digitalisation and innovation:Â accelerating the digital transformation of retail banking through enhanced mobile banking apps, digital onboarding and seamless user experiences.
- Fraud and cybersecurity: strengthening banks’ defences against digital threats through collaborative efforts, information sharing, and alignment with national and European cybersecurity standards. The cluster supports initiatives to protect customers from fraud, enhance digital trust, and increase public awareness of online financial safety.
- Statistics and business intelligence:Â monitoring trends in consumer behaviour, payment preferences, and borrowing habits to help retail banks adapt their strategies and offer services aligned with evolving customer needs.
- Financial education and digital inclusion:Â promoting financial literacy and digital skills among the general population to ensure all customers, regardless of age or background, can safely and confidently navigate modern banking services. This includes targeted outreach and educational campaigns on responsible borrowing, savings, and secure digital practices.
