Nexus 2025 | ABBL launches Catapult BankTech to accelerate innovation in depositary banking

As part of Nexus 2025, the ABBL announces the launch of Catapult BankTech – Depositary Banking Edition, a new acceleration programme targeting the operational, digital and regulatory challenges faced by depositary banks. This initiative was conceived and driven by the ABBL Depositary Banking Cluster, in line with ABBL’s strategic commitment to support practical and member-led innovation across the financial sector. The programme is developed in close collaboration with the Luxembourg House of Financial Technology (LHoFT), which provides ecosystem support and operational coordination.

Summary

    A one-week bootcamp in October 2025

    The inaugural edition of Catapult BankTech will be held in Luxembourg from 20 to 24 October 2025, during the Luxembourg Venture Days. Ten selected fintechs will participate in a high-impact week of expert sessions, mentoring and direct engagement with financial sector professionals.

    Programme priorities

    The selected participants will work on innovative solutions addressing three key priorities for depositary banks:

    1. Data acquisition and process automation platforms
      Leveraging AI and automation to streamline data capture, integration and document workflows.

    2. Secure communication and asset servicing ecosystem integration
      Enabling seamless, standardised exchanges between financial institutions and fund-servicing actors.

    3. Regulatory compliance and governance (RegTech)
      Automating regulatory tasks, enhancing data governance, and supporting risk controls.

    Strategic impact

    This programme is part of the ABBL’s broader mission to foster high-value transformation in financial services. It brings together banking practitioners and fintech innovators around concrete, co-developed solutions.

    A roadmap to autumn 2025

    The Catapult BankTech bootcamp is the starting point of a broader journey. Over the following months, participating fintechs will continue to collaborate with ABBL members to fine-tune their solutions. Final outcomes and key learnings will be presented to the financial community in autumn 2025.
