Our Training Offer

As part of European and Global Money Week, the ABBL and its Foundation engage young people across Luxembourg through Woch vun de Suen for primary pupils and the European Money Quiz for secondary students — inspiring the next generation to make informed and responsible financial choices.

Woch vun de Suen

Every year since 2015, the ABBL and the Fondation ABBL pour l’éducation financière have organised Money Week.

This event, supported by the  Ministère de l’Education, de l’Enfance et de la Jeunesse, is part of European Money Week, initiated by the European Banking Federation, and Global Money Week, organised by the OECD.

Objectives: to help Cycle 4 pupils in Luxembourg’s primary schools (aged 10 to 12) better understand the value of money and the importance of managing their budget through a fun, two-hour educational activity.

Registration: register using our registration form. Registrations should be sent to fondation@abbl.lu.

During this event, our volunteer trainers teach Year 4 primary school pupils in Luxembourg the basics of sound and responsible money management. The aim of this initiative is to help them understand the value of money and raise their awareness of the importance of budget control for their future. In a context of increasing (over)consumption, it is essential to introduce the basics of financial literacy at an early age in order to make young people aware of the need for thoughtful and responsible consumption.

Money Odyssey: an educational mobile app

The activity offered during ‘Woch vun de Suen’ teaches various key concepts in financial literacy. This learning takes place through a new mobile app, Money Odyssey, developed by the ABBL Foundation for Financial Education and run by volunteer trainers.

European Money Quiz

The European Money Quiz (EMQ) is a Europe-wide competition for students aged 13-15, aimed at improving their financial literacy.

  • Objective: to motivate students to learn about finance and economics in a fun way
  • Next edition: April/May 2026 (to be confirmed)
  • Registration for the national competition: online registration

Preparation

To help students prepare, we recommend that teachers practise as much as possible during class time, but we also encourage students to practise outside of class.

How?

1. Via Money Odyssey

2. Via Kahoot

To practise these tests in class, you will need a computer with internet access. The questions will be displayed on this computer. In addition, your students will need mobile devices such as smartphones or tablets. The answers will be entered via these devices. All participants must first download the Kahoot! app.

You can choose between classic mode (everyone against everyone) or team mode (team against team). Classic mode is recommended if everyone in the class has a smartphone or tablet. Team mode is preferable if several students are playing as a team on a single device.

After making your choice, a PIN code will be displayed on the classroom computer, which students will need to enter on their mobile devices.

Information for teachers

The European Money Quiz (EMQ) is a fun, interactive competition that helps students aged 13–15 improve their financial literacy through the Kahoot! platform. Organised by the ABBL Foundation for Financial Education, it takes place in two stages:

  1. National round (Luxembourg): Schools compete during Woch vun de Suen on a date set with participating teachers.
  2. European final (Brussels): National winners represent their countries to become Europe’s top financial minds.

Part of European Money Week, an initiative of the European Banking Federation, the quiz promotes financial education across Europe.

Teachers are key to student success—by preparing classes with practice quizzes and encouraging teamwork.

Winning classes earn a trip to Brussels (travel and accommodation covered by ABBL Foundation), and the top three European teams receive prizes for their school.
