Published on 16 June 2025

A new academic partnership between the Luxembourg Ministry of Finance, McGill University, the Luxembourg Bankers’ Association (ABBL) and the Association of the Luxembourg Fund Industry (ALFI) marks a significant milestone for Luxembourg’s financial centre. Signed this week by Minister Gilles Roth, the agreement will bring McGill University’s prestigious Master of Management in Finance programme to Luxembourg, the first time the Canadian institution launches a degree in Europe. Recognised worldwide for its excellence in teaching and research, McGill University will now become part of Luxembourg’s educational and financial landscape, offering students direct access to top-tier financial education within a globally connected hub. “The establishment of McGill University in Luxembourg is a signal that we are investing in the future of our financial centre by investing in people. This initiative is fully aligned with our ambition to attract international talent and to nurture a dynamic, forward-looking ecosystem that will sustain and grow Luxembourg’s financial centre on the global stage.”— Gilles Roth, Minister of Finance

Investing in people to shape the future of finance

This strategic partnership contributes directly to ABBL’s mission to promote regulated, innovative and responsible banking. It ensures that Luxembourg remains attractive not only as a place to do business, but also as a place to grow talent.

It reinforces the ecosystem’s ability to train the next generation of professionals locally, in line with industry needs, while strengthening links between employers, universities and policymakers.
