Social Affairs

As an employers’ association, one of the ABBL’s core responsibilities is to support its members on social and labour matters. This includes providing guidance, interpretation, and representation on employment-related legislation and workforce issues that affect the day-to-day operations of Luxembourg’s banks and financial institutions.

Representing the Banking Sector as an Employer

The ABBL acts as the official representative of the banking sector in social dialogue, ensuring that the voice of financial institutions is heard in discussions with:

  • National labour authorities and regulatory bodies.
  • Social partners and trade unions.
  • Governmental and legislative bodies.

As the negotiating party to the banking collective agreement, the ABBL plays a key role in maintaining balanced, fair, and future-proof labour conditions that support both business competitiveness and employee wellbeing.

“Social dialogue is about balance—ensuring fair conditions for employees while supporting the competitiveness of Luxembourg’s financial sector.”
