Empowering Teachers to Educate on Online Fraud — Hacker Hotline 2.0
Too many young people in Europe are not sufficiently informed about online fraud. With ‘Hacker Hotline 2.0’, the Belgian banking association, Febelfin, is launching a board game for teachers aimed at raising awareness among young people in a fun and entertaining way about the dangers of the internet and helping them to protect themselves.
Summary
According to a study conducted in October 2025, among a thousand young people aged between 13 and 21:
- 23% have been victims of attempted fraud.
- 32% do not know how to minimise the risks.
- 45% are not informed about financial fraud.
Hacker Hotline 2.0 is aimed at young people aged 12 and above and teaches them:
- which forms of online fraud exist
- how to recognise suspicious situations
- how to protect themselves through good cyber hygiene
The board game is accompanied by practical teaching materials on online fraud and money mules.
The workshops are offered in the form of PowerPoint presentations accompanied by spoken notes. Fully compliant with the educational objectives of the reference frameworks, they enable teachers to run the workshops independently.
